Today in 1986, during President Ronald Reagan's speech at the Sioux Falls Arena, 500 farmers and union laborers protested outside against the administration's farm policy. Reagan invited two protest leaders to talk with him during his ride from the arena to the airport. They differed on farm subsidies and what would bring farmers fair prices. The men understood each perspective, but Reagan stuck to his policy.
