A 5,000-square-foot section of the DakotaDome's Teflon roof ripped during a snowstorm on this day in 1979, less than a month before USD athletics' move-in date of April 1. The air-inflated roof was replaced by hard steel in 2001, eliminating concerns about roof collapse due to snow buildup.
