Governor and U.S. Senator William Henry McMaster died today in 1968. After attending Beloit College, McMaster moved to Yankton and worked at the Security State Bank in Gayville. He served in the state House of Representatives in 1911 and 1912 and the Senate from 1913 to 1916. In 1921 the Republican was elected governor and served in the U.S. Senate from 1925 to 1931.
