Open House - Okaton
Jul 19, 2025 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
In many ways trees give us a sense of calm: their composed lifetime of establishing roots, landmarks, and refuge. Without a word, trees tell us of water, wind direction and their health.
Trees in South Dakota take up only about 4% of the state’s landscape, mostly in the Black Hills National Forest.
Across the open prairie trees are sparse, yet their presence is highly valued by those who steward and dwell within this land.
Please join me in the reveal of five new photographs featuring trees in the showing, Countenance, at Grandview Gallery.
To commemorate the past 10 years, all award-winning and nationally recognized photographs will be on display together for the first time.
