Nicollet Tower

If you find yourself on Highway 10 west of Sisseton, be sure to visit Long Hollow. It is now well-marked by the Nicollet Tower, an wood observation tower erected more than a decade ago.

Long Hollow experiences strange weather phenomena. It may be blizzarding on the hollow when the sun is shining down below in Sisseton. Three historical markers tell the stories of people caught in storms there. -
Just west of the Nicollet tower on a gravel road you'll find a 1923 concrete bridge, one of the last of its kind still in use. Visitors to the tower use the gravel road as a hiking and biking path. -
Beneath the bridge you'll discover graffiti. The spot appears to be a hangout for some youth in the area. -
The bridge is a tranquil spot in Roberts County. -
A gurgling stream winds its way around rocks under the old bridge.
