I.D. Weeks, the University of South Dakota's longest serving president, died on this day in 1983. One of his accomplishments during his 31-year presidency was lobbying Arne Larson to move from Brookings to Vermillion to teach music. Larson arrived in 1966, bringing several grain trucks filled with his collection of 2,000 musical instruments, which would later become the National Music Museum.
